DS450 Clutch Issues
Older DS450's (early models such as the 2008) have riveted clutch baskets, and this has proven to be a problem for many racers. Often, a rivot would fall out of the clutch gear and start making it's way around the engine. As you can imagine, this can turn into quite a costly problem as you would need to take apart the engine and not only buy a new clutch, but replace anything else that was damaged. For this reason, the BCS Billet Clutch Basket was made. By drilling out the rivets on your old clutch and replacing them with bolts and this basket, you reduced the risk of this problem occuring greatly. Not only that but you may even notice a small performance boost and improved clutch durability. So it is greatly recommended that should you have a riveted clutch, that you replace it before any serious riding or race events.
